I Am Interested In Working From Home Using My Rn And 30+ Years Of Clinical Skills. Any Advice?
Question:
Dear Donna,
I recently had a back injury with resulting balance problems. I am interested in working from home using my RN and 30+ years of clinical skills. Any advice?
Rae
Dear Donna replies:
Dear Rae,
This is an often-asked question in my column. I would suggest that you contact area insurance companies about doing home-based telephone triage, advice-line work, or case management. Many companies have such programs and provide training. Look in the yellow pages of your phone book under Managed Care. There are also private companies (non-insurance companies) that offer such opportunities. Use the “Article Search” feature at nurse.com and search for “home-based” or “work from home” to see what’s already been said on the subject. Here’s one to get you started: http://include.nurse.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=200880122003.
Best wishes,
Donna
