Hup, Christiana Units Earn Beacon Awards

Two units at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and one from Christiana Hospital, Christiana Care Health System in Newark, Del., were recipients of the 2009 Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.

The awards recognize top national adult and pediatric care units and progressive care units that meet evidence-based standards of excellence and patient safety.

Honored from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania were the neuro ICU in the adult critical care category, a two-time award recipient, and first-time honoree Rhoads I, vascular surgery endovascular therapy unit, in the progressive care category.

Christiana’s medical ICU was honored as a first-time Beacon recipient.
