Question:

Dear Donna,

I have been an LPN for 20 years. I am searching for an accredited and affordable or free online LPN-to-RN course. Do you have any information about this?

Aspiring RN

Dear Donna replies:

Dear Aspiring RN,

First, check with your state nursing board to see if there are any LPN-to-RN online programs they do not recognize for licensure, regardless of the school's accreditation. Some states are particular about this.

Also, you should check with your state chapter of the American Nurses Association for this type of program or any special programs or funding. Find them here http://nursingworld.org/FunctionalMenuCategories/findyourstate. You don’t have to be a member to contact them about educational opportunities.

There is plenty of scholarship money available to those who seek it out. Read “Master the scholarship game” (www.Nurse.com/Cardillo/ScholarshipGame).

Best wishes,
Donna
