Question:
Dear Donna,
I resigned from my position as director of nursing at an adult day care center due to an unhealthy work environment. I have been offered a DON position at another adult day care center. My concern is, I am not sure what the future of adult day care centers is going to be. Can you please give some insight into this?

Dear Donna replies:
Dear Concerned RN,
Adult day services is a growing industry and a good one to be in. It will continue to expand as the population ages.
To further enhance your career development, I recommend you join and participate in the American Organization of Nurse Executives (www.aone.org). You may also find this website of interest: National Adult Day Service Association (www.nadsa.org). Consider attending some local chapter meetings, even as a guest for now.
Best wishes,
Donna
