Question:

Dear Donna,

I do not have a question, but a comment: I am the director of student services at an LPN school in Ohio, and I shared your article, "New grads: You can do it" (www.Nurse.com/Cardillo/New-Grads) with our graduating class. One of the class members thanked me and said your article addressed all of her concerns and made her feel much better. It made my day to hear that, and I hope it makes yours.

Rachel Roberts,
Director of Student Services, Central School of Practical Nursing

Dear Donna replies:

Dear Rachel,

It most certainly does make my day. I am grateful to you for sharing that. It’s notes like yours that keep me doing what I do.

To further expand on that article, I have written the book “Your First Year as a Nurse: Making the Transition from Total Novice to Successful Professional, 2nd ed.,” published by Random House. Many schools of nursing, both RN and LPN/LVN, are using it in their curriculum or recommending it to students.

Thanks again,
Donna
