Question:

Dear Donna,

I am working on continuing education hours to renew my Michigan RN license, which has lapsed. Will Nurse.com notify the state of Michigan when earned hours are credited to my license number, or do I need to do that? If I need to, will the board of nursing accept that? Please enlighten me.

Needs to Be Enlightened

Dear Donna replies:

Dear Needs to Be Enlightened,

Gannett Education, the CE provider of courses on Nurse.com, generally does not send any CE verification information directly to state boards of nursing. It is your responsibility to keep track of your own CE certificates and provide that information as needed or requested by the board. However, Gannett Education does maintain a record of your online CE courses in the event they need to be verified at a later date.

In addition, Gannett Education reports course completions to CE Broker for Florida and D.C. nurses (if they have shared a valid Florida or DC license number). CE Broker is an independent company that the Florida and D.C. boards of nursing contract with to track continuing education of healthcare professionals.

Best wishes,
Donna
