A study by the Rand Corporation think tank that was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association reports women who get pregnant after weight-loss surgery tend to be healthier and less likely to deliver babies born with complications compared to obese women.
The researchers, who analyzed data from 75 previous studies, also reported women who have weight-loss surgery can improve their chances of getting pregnant by normalizing menstrual cycles and hormone levels.
Researchers recommend women wait a year after surgery to let their bodies adjust before getting pregnant, although some got pregnant earlier without problems.
