Cindy Tait, RN, MPH, president of the Center for Healthcare Education in Riverside, Calif., will accept a framed certificate and be featured on the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals' (PETA) Web site for the medical training center's receipt of an award for using methods that do not harm animals.
The center won the Most Progressive Healthcare Education Program category in PETA's sixth annual Proggy Awards for using mannequins and simulations, rather than animals, for training healthcare professionals.
The Proggy Awards (“Proggy” stands for “progress”) recognize animal-friendly achievements in commerce and culture. This year, other Proggy Awards went to producers and marketers of vegan foods, leather-free shoes, and cruelty-free personal care products.
