More than $17,000 was raised for Adventist GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights, Ill., during the second annual Festival of Flavor, a fundraiser organized by the GlenOaks Hospital Foundation. The funds will help underwrite a new Zeiss microscope for the hospital's surgical services department.

"We are so grateful to the community and our terrific hospital staff for supporting this worthwhile cause," said Karen Lawler, executive director of the foundation, in a news release. "There were so many positive comments about this event and we are already looking forward to our third annual Festival of Flavor."

About 200 guests attended the event, which featured dozens of dishes prepared by chefs from 11 local restaurants. The event is the foundation's biggest fundraiser of the year. Participating Illinois restaurants included Adventist GlenOaks Hospital Café in Glendale Heights, Chicago Pastry in Bloomingdale, Glendale Lakes Golf Club in Glendale Heights, Jameson's Charhouse in Bloomingdale, Medinah Banquets in Addison, Ristorante Amalfi in Bloomingdale, RoccoVino's Ristorante & Pizzeria in Carol Stream, Shiraz on the Water, Hilton Indian Lakes Hotel in Bloomingdale, Sweet Baby Ray's Barbeque in Wood Dale, Vangelo's Town Center Grill in Carol Stream, and Villaggio Ristorante in Roselle.
