Blue Cross and Blue Shield have named St. Joseph Hospital Heart and Vascular Center in Orange, Calif., a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care, the hospital announced March 4.
To earn the distinction, hospitals must show they meet clinical criteria developed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield in conjunction with the American College of Cardiology and Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
St. Joseph, the first Orange County hospital to provide cardiac care, joins 22 other California hospitals in having received the honor.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield have designated more than 410 cardiac care centers nationwide.
