The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses announced that it has partnered with Mercy Ships to provide surgical support and healthcare in African nations. AORN’s 42,000 members are encouraged to volunteer their skills on the Africa Mercy, the world’s largest non-governmental hospital ship, which includes six operating rooms. Approximately 150 to 200 OR nurses are needed annually, according to Mercy Ships, to serve the 5,400 patients receiving care on the ship. For more information, visit www.mercyships.org.
