William G. Denton, RN, MBA, was named senior partner at the Sullivan Lakier Group in Poway, Calif. Denton previously was senior vice president at Wellspring in Chicago.

The National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners presented its annual awards to both groups and individuals at its 30th annual conference March 19-21 in San Diego. Abbey Alkon, RN, PhD, PNP, received the Henry K. Silver Memorial Award. The Orange County chapter received a NAPNAP Growth Award. Bonnie Lovette, RN, MS, PNP, Vallejo, Calif., received the Injury Education and Prevention SIG award. Raechelle Dow, MPH, MSN, CPNP, San Diego, /received a Nurse in Washington Internship. Antrina Brantley, BSN, Oakland, Calif., received a NAPNAP/McNeil Scholarship. Emily Skaff, MS, CPNP, Mill Valley, Calif., received a NAPNAP/McNeil Grant-In-Aid. Annamarie Brown, MSN, CPNP, Clovis, Calif., received a NAPNAP/Wyeth Immunization Grant. Liza Jia, MSN, Los Angeles, received a Reckitt Benckiser Student Scholarship. Catherine Goodhue, MSN, CPNP, El Segundo, Calif., received the Foundation Research Grant.



Darlyn Baker, RN


Darlyn Baker, RN, Bakersfield Interim HealthCare franchise owner/director, Healthcare Services, was chosen as RN of the Year in Leadership by the Kern chapter of the Association of California Nurse Leaders.

Debra Brady, MSN, BSN, assistant professor of California State University’s Division of Nursing in Sacramento, Calif., received the Outstanding Teaching, University Service and Community Service Award on April 28 from Sacramento State’s Faculty Senate.




Susan Stark Meyer, RN

Susan Stark Meyer, a 17-year nursing faculty member at Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles, was honored during the May 11 commencement. The college paid tribute to Meyer with its Carondelet Medal, its highest honor, for her leadership at the college as a faculty member in nursing, her exemplary teaching over nearly two decades, and her commitment to educating young women and men in nursing. Meyer is a 1978 alumna of the college and a Torrance resident.


Helen F. Neville, RN


Helen F. Neville, RN, pediatric advice nurse, parent educator, and author of the newly revised “Mommy! I Have to Go Potty! A Parent’s Guide to Toilet Training,” has received an honor award in the annual National Parenting Publications awards competition.

Gene Adamos, RN, CNA, recovery room charge nurse at Simi Valley (Calif.) Hospital, was named the April employee of the month. Adamos has been an SVH employee since March 2000.

"Gene is reliable and focused on details, and he is always willing to work and to go wherever he is needed," said Jeff Smith, director of perioperative services at SVH. "He is a team player who works well with staff and physicians."
