Nancy Healy, RN, BSN, SANE-A, SANE-P, coordinator of the sexual assault treatment program at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, Ill., was honored April 27 with the 2009 Victim Service Award from Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez at the 11th annual Victim Service Awards event in Chicago.
Healy, a certified sexual assault nurse examiner, works closely with local law enforcement, prosecutors, and rape advocacy groups. She was honored for efforts that best exemplify the day-to-day effort to pursue justice for victims of crime, according to a news release from the state’s attorney’s office.
Sharon O’Keefe, RN, MSN, has been named president of the hospital. O’Keefe, who took over April 27, is from Chicago and earned her BSN from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb and her MSN from Loyola University’s Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing. O’Keefe began her career as a critical care nurse at Loyola.
Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, Melrose Park, Ill.
Meg Kim, RN, BSN, CNOR, has been named director of surgical services.
Van Matre HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital, Rockford, Ill.
RNs Janet Locke, Charissa Donato, Teresa Bastian, and Susie Lewis have achieved CRRN certification.
Jean Waldron, RN, BSN, RNC-NIC, has earned neonatal intensive care nursing certification.
Edward Hospital, Naperville, Ill.
Five staff members graduated as part of the December 2008 class of the College of DuPage nursing program — Melissa McCarron, Shannon Kustak, Amanda Hunt, Dawn Fosco, and Steve Obey.
The program was part of a collaboration between COD and local hospitals. RNs Marge Curran, Linda K. Delaney, Julieann Johnson, and Lisa McCombs earned NICU recertification.
Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, Ill.
Maria Barrionuevo, RN, clinical manager of the SICU and cardiac telemetry units, received a plaque from Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White late last year for her leadership and advocacy to advance organ and tissue donation.
Weiss Memorial Hospital, Chicago
Edward Gradman, RN, and Patricia Szakvary, RN, recently became CCRN certified.
RNs Anna Raimondi, Kim Thomas, Dee Dodd, and Marie Noble have received CCRN certification, while Becky Shields achieved BC-med/surg certification, and Jen Sturgeon earned CMSRN.
Lisa Janeway achieved nursing informatics certification. Ann Pinkawa, (Doctorate of Philosophy in Healthcare Administration), Diane Coluzzi (MBA), Carolyn Sinclair-Shaw (MPH), and Dawn Soderstrom (BSN) all earned degrees. Soderstrom also earned CRNI certification.

Receiving promotions to nurse clinician 3 were RNs Nancy Coffey, Carrie Cirelli, and Mindy Hinkel. Julie Alvin has been promoted to nurse clinician 4, and Christina Lekki achieved nurse clinician 2 status. Lekki, Sheila Erasmus, Cherri Saltijeral, and Nicole Daley have become chemotherapy certified.
Sarah Glumm, RN, has taken a new role at Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital as clinical nurse manager of the acute inpatient rehab and skilled care units.
University of Chicago Medical Center
Michele Rubin, CGRN, APN, CNS, has been named to the six-member executive board of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America. Rubin has more than 30 years of experience in inflammatory bowel disease.
RNs Sarah Hanko, Christina Mazzone, Megan Magee, Iris Marku, and Grazyna Cohen achieved CCRN certification, while Prasunambra Dalavai became a perioperative nursing practitioner, and Katrina Harmon became a certified clinical transplant coordinator. Kerriann Kordas earned oncology certified nurse status.
The oncology team of RNs Jennifer King, Courtney Harley, Shannon Sanders, Tina DeBoer, Jan Koch, Becky Buttrum, Ellen Berg, and Amy VanLanduyt were honored with a plaque from the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation for having 100% certification.
Katie Arend, Deborah Painter, Maria Reading, Lyn Park, and Diane Peabody have passed the RNC-NIC certification exam, while Phyllis Bainbridge has achieved diabetes education certification.
Stroger Hospital of Cook County, Chicago
Tamara Tolliver, RN, has completed her BSN at Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill.
RNs Janet Sirois and Kathryn Melesio have been promoted to nurse clinician 3. Neslie Joy Abando, Katherine Knaak, and Kathleen Murphy received CCRN certification, while Dawn Kassulat and Mary Kottman achieved maternal-newborn certification, and Cindy Lincicum and Sue Repking earned neonatal intensive care nursing certification.
Centegra Health System, Crystal Lake, Ill.
RNs from Centegra facilities in Woodstock and McHenry have enjoyed career achievements. Tamara Carroll, Kathy Glenn, Angel Heaver, Lisa Hall, Marcie Crawford, Suzie Schwartz, and Christdeanna Dusik have completed BSNs. Kim Foxworthy, Cheryl Glombicki, Laurie Parisi, Val Klapperich, and Grace Sebastian completed MSN degrees. Laura Beamer submitted an article for publication.
Receiving trauma nurse specialist certification were Deb Waterson, Marian Hutchison, Kelli Gallas, Wendy Mitchell, Jen Bayness, Danielle Beaudoin, Roxanne Connors, Julie Lawson, David Lobue, Susan Liakat-Laroussi, Diane Csajaghy, Gladys Deguzman, Sara Oetjens, and Katie Madsen. Heaver also earned CPEN certification.
Mary Schneider and Judy Salvador earned oncology nursing certification, while Carol Block (infection control), Rose Iverson (gastroenterology nursing), Molly DeGroh (lactation counselor), Paula Jackson (end-of-life education instructor, respecting choices advanced planning instructor) also achieved certifications.
Jill Benedict earned the Oncology Nursing Society scholarship for OCN certification. Laura Beamer received two OCN Roberta Scofield scholarships. Kathy Floor, Lisa Skala, and Gracey Lindner earned auxiliary of Memorial Medical Center nursing scholarships.
