Vicki Marsee, RN, MBA, NEA-BC, director of nursing systems at Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, Fla., has received the Florida Organization of Nurse Executives Leadership Award for 2009. The award was presented to Marsee in May at the annual FONE Educational Conference in Gainesville, Fla.

To be considered for the award, the nominee must demonstrate creativity in nursing management; promote the profession of nursing; demonstrate leadership through sharing knowledge and expertise within and outside the organization; develop positive intra-institutional relationships with other disciplines; and participate in a broad range of community and/or healthcare organizations. Marsee was a previous nominee for this prestigious award, as well as a past recipient of professional awards from both the Oncology Nursing Society and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.

Vicki was nominated for this honor by Sheila Ferrall, RN, MS, AOCN, and enthusiastically endorsed by Chief Nursing Officer Mary Beth Reardon, RN, MS, OCN, NEA-BC, and other colleagues. As noted in the nomination, Marsee “is passionate about nursing and communicates her enthusiasm to all; she works tirelessly to promote involvement of staff and managers in professional organizations, specialty certifications and public policy. Vicki challenges and encourages her peers to strive for excellence.”
