In June, Annette Morales, RN; Maria Perez, RN; and Sara Viera, RN, of the ED at Christ Hospital in Jersey City, N.J., traveled to the Dominican Republic to work in a clinic where 600 people a day receive care.
The trip was sponsored by the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, N.J., where the nurses are studying to obtain their BSN degrees.
Pamela Vlahakis, RN, CEN, CRN, nurse coordinator of the Hunterdon Regional Breast Care Program at the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center in Flemington, N.J. passed the first Certified Breast Care Nurse Examination administered by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation.

Joan Raike, RN, an advanced practice nurse and preceptor at Rutgers-The State University of NJ, received the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner Nurse of the Year Award and the FNAP Educational Award. Eleanor Incalcaterra, RN, and Robin Mansfield, RN, received the Nancy Fortna Scholarship.

At Dominican College in Orangeburg, N.Y., Associate Professor of Nursing Nancy DiDona, RN, PhD, wrote the book “Math for Healthcare Professionals: Dosage Calculations and Fundamentals of Medication Administration.” The text was published in March by Jones and Bartlett.
