The University of St. Francis (Joliet, Ill.) College of Nursing and Allied Health recently received a grant of more than $800,000 for its new Doctor of Nursing Practice program.

The Health Resources and Services Administration, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, awarded the grant for funding of the DNP program for the next three years.

Maria Connolly, dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Health, said in a news release that the grant allows the university to continue its high level of instruction in the classroom and high level of care at the university’s Health & Wellness Center in Joliet. The center is a primary care clinic managed by APNs who also are university faculty members.

“We want the highest caliber nursing professionals helping our patients at the Health & Wellness Center and teaching our students at the university,” Connolly said.
