St. Luke’s Hospital has been designated a Magnet nursing facility by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

It is the first and only hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and the sixth in the state to receive the award, according to a news release.

“When we began this journey over four years ago, it began as an organization-wide journey toward excellence,” Mary Ann Osborn, vice president and chief clinical officer, said in an e-mail.

“Although the designation is granted by ANCC, it reflects the culture of the entire hospital organization. Clinical staff, physicians, support staff, and administrators are working together to provide the healthcare we’d like our loved ones to receive.”

The Magnet philosophy aligns with St. Luke’s strategic priorities to assure demonstrably better quality outcomes for patients and to create an outstanding partnership with associates, according to Osborn.
