Daily News: Bill Would Fund Hepatitis Fight

A bipartisan bill allocating support for hepatitis infection prevention and treatment has been introduced into the U.S. House of Representatives. The Viral Hepatitis and Liver Cancer Control Act (H.R. 3974) would amend the Public Health Service Act to establish, promote, and support a comprehensive prevention, research, and medical management referral program for chronic hepatitis B and chronic hepatitis C virus infection, according to sponsors. The bill would provide $90 million in 2011 to increase the ability of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to support state health departments in their prevention, immunization, and surveillance efforts.
