Oak Brook, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care, which boasts 11 facilities in the Greater Chicago region, has expanded into central Illinois.

On Jan. 6, Advocate and BroMenn Healthcare of Normal, Ill., announced the addition of two facilities into the Advocate system.

The additions are Normal’s Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, a 225-bed facility, and Advocate Eureka (Ill.) Hospital, the only facility in Woodford County, which is located east of Peoria.

The merger also includes the integration of the BroMenn Physicians Management Corporation, which is comprised of 11 medical practices, and the BroMenn Provider Network, a physician hospital organization, according to a news release.

“The integration of Advocate Health Care and BroMenn Healthcare will bring substantial benefits to the BroMenn patients, community, medical staff and associates,” said Jim Skogsbergh, president and CEO, Advocate Health Care.

With the merger, Advocate now operates 11 acute care hospitals, two children’s hospitals, five Level I trauma centers, a home healthcare company and one of the Greater Chicago region’s largest medical groups, according to a news release.
