The Montefiore-Einstein Heart Center has expanded its services with the opening of Montefiore’s first rapid access unit. During American Heart Month in February, a ribbon-cutting ceremony highlighted the specialized care cardiac patients will receive at the unit after invasive cardiac procedures such as angioplasty and electrophysiology.
“The new unit offers patients a chance to recover after their cardiac procedures with a high nurse-to-patient ratio ensuring a safe and effective recovery,” V.S. Srinivas, MD, medical director of Cardiology Interventional Service, said in a news release. “It will offer an efficient means of caring for these patients by a dedicated team of professionals including cardiologists, nurses and physician extenders.”
Consisting of nine private rooms equipped with sliding glass doors and flat-screen TVs, the unit provides rapid access from the ED and for tertiary service transfers from affiliated institutions.
