Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital — Donna Bertram, RN, MBA, NEA-BC, FAAN, vice president and CNO, is among 15 area business and community leaders who will be honored at SafeHaven of Tarrant County’s annual Legacy of Women Awards luncheon Oct. 29. The award recognizes women who excel in the areas of arts, business, education, health and human services and volunteerism. Bertram has spearheaded many innovative developments, including establishing a healing arts committee to explore alternative therapies such as aromatherapy, meditation and music therapy; initiating inspirational huddles with directors and supervisors; and launching the hospital’s efforts toward gaining Magnet designation.

Harrland Healthcare Consulting, LLC, Houston — President Marylyn Harris, RN, has been appointed to the Small Business Administration Advisory Committee on Veterans Business Affairs. The committee serves as a source of advice and policy recommendations to the U.S. Small Business Administration. Harris also volunteers with The Veterans Information & Resource Project, a nonprofit organization that advocates for veterans and military families. Harris also was selected as a 2010 Silver Medalist by the Good Samaritan Foundation.
St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Covington, La. — The hospital guild awarded professional education nursing scholarships of $1,000 to St. Tammany Parish Hospital future RNs Jennifer Koch, Marissa Mederos, Samantha Morales and Danielle Werner for the fall 2010 semester. Koch attends a licensed practical nurse-to-registered nurse transition program. Mederos, of Folsom, and Morales are earning their BSNs.
