Henry Medical Center, Stockbridge, has been named to the Georgia Hospital Association’s Partnership for Health and Accountability Quality Honor Roll. HMC earned placement in the Presidential category for the second consecutive year. The honor roll is based on clinical data provided by the federal Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services. The data was collected from July 2009 to June 2010.
In other news, HMC’s Laurel Park Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation facility recently was named a “Top Nursing Home in America” by the Consumers’ Research Council of America for the second consecutive year. The Consumers’ Research Council of America, a Washington, D.C.-based research organization, provides consumers’ information guides for professional services throughout the country.
Laurel Park was one of 17,000 Medicare/Medicaid certified nursing homes to have its quality indicators compared in eight areas, including nutrition and dietary services, resident services, quality of care, pharmacy services, treatment of residents and resident rights.
HMC also earned first place for the 2010 Josh Nahum Special Achievement Award for Infection Prevention & Control for the hospital’s Pneumonia Vaccination Initiative. Henry Medical Center put in place a task force charged with ensuring appropriate and timely treatment of community-acquired pneumonia in accordance with the National Hospital Quality Measures. The task force revised the hospital’s pneumonia vaccine protocols, educated clinical staff and launched an extensive hospital-wide campaign called “Get to the Core.”
Earning First Place for the 2010 Josh Nahum Special Achievement Award for Infection Prevention & Control for the hospital’s Pneumonia Vaccination Initiative recognizes Henry Medical Center for achieving and maintaining a 100% success rate with regards to administering the pneumonia vaccine to the right patients every time. At 27 years old, Josh Nahum was injured in a skydiving accident and later died from an infection, according to a news release.
