On June 23, the Oregon Center for Nursing kicked off its 2011 Long Term Care Nursing Leadership Network series with a new option for individuals to attend remotely, by webinar.

"We have consistently heard from nurses that they would love to attend our leadership events but are unable to get away from work," said Mary Rita Hurley, RN, executive director of the Portland, Ore.-based center. "The webinar option makes this series more accessible for nurses."

The event, titled "The Challenges and Opportunities of Nurse Leadership," included a panel of long-term care leaders. They reflected on their paths to leadership roles, techniques for coping with time constraints and strategies for encouraging the next generation of leaders. •
