Christina Jackson, RN
The American Holistic Nurses Association honored Christina Jackson, RN, PhD, PNP, AHN-BC, a nursing professor at Eastern University, St. Davids, Pa., with the 2011 Holistic Nurse of the Year Award at its 31st annual conference in July.

"Helping patients with holistic approa-ches to healing is extremely rewarding, as is teaching and modeling holistic philosophy to energize nurses who have begun to feel weary, isolated or cynical," Jackson said after receiving the award.

The HNY Award is presented annually to recognize outstanding achievement in the field of holistic nursing. Jackson was honored for her contributions in furthering the practice of holistic nursing and bringing caring and healing to the forefront of nursing practice.

Jackson has been certified as an advanced practice holistic nurse since 2004 and as a certified holistic nurse since 2001.

She has helped advance the specialty practice through teaching, research and publications. Jackson's most recent article, "Back Pain in Children: A Holistic Approach to Diagnosis and Management," appears in the September/October 2011 issue of the Journal of Pediatric Health Care.

Since 2009, Jackson has been associate editor for the journal, Holistic Nursing Practice: The Science of Health and Healing. •
