Two EDs in the region are among 20 recipients of the Emergency Nurses Association's first Lantern Awards.
They are Kadlec Regional Medical Center ED in Richland, Wash., and Marc & Laura Andreessen ED, Stanford Hospital and Clinics in Stanford, Calif. The Lantern Award recognizes ED staff who exemplify exceptional and innovative performance in the core areas of leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research.
"EDs are the safety net for millions of patients every year," said AnnMarie Papa, RN, DNP, CEN, NE-BC, FAEN, president of the Emergency Nurses Association. "They see patients when they are most in need of help. The Lantern Award was designed to recognize those departments whose commitment to excellence truly exceeds normal practice."
The 20 EDs recognized by ENA were evaluated on a range of performance and outcome metrics, as well as qualitative questions about noteworthy practices and attributes of the ED focusing on their commitment to excellence and innovation.
