CROMWELL, CONN. — Nurses leading change: This was the main topic of discussion during the Connecticut Nurses' Association's 105th convention held Oct. 27 at the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell, Conn.

Nurses who attended recognized that although the message was simple, their journey to achieving this goal was anything but. During panel discussions, participants jumped right in and brainstormed solutions to timely challenges. Education sessions focused on developing the nurse leader within, prelicensure education and practice, and issues facing practice in Connecticut.

After the daylong conference, nurses relaxed with refreshments and gave praise to their peers during the annual Diamond Jubilee and Awards Ceremony. Seven awards were distributed among nine nurses, and four awards were bestowed upon individuals/groups in the general award categories.

"It is inspiring to see the significant contributions that nursing colleagues and other individuals have made to the nursing profession and to the health of the public," said Carole Bergeron, RN, PhD, executive director of the CNA.
