The DAISY Foundation has begun accepting applications for nursing research and evidence-based practice grants.
The Foundation encourages nurses seeking to improve treatment of patients with auto-immune diseases and cancer to apply for a research or evidence-based practice grant through the J. Patrick Barnes Grant program.
Two types of grants are available: research grants of up to $5,000 for studies that involve clinical research that directly benefits patients and/or families; and evidence-based practice project grants of up to $2,000 that use patient-focused data to study and develop improved nursing practices.
Successful applicants can also apply for subsequent funding to share their findings at professional conferences. The Lynne Doll Grants for Dissemination of Findings will provide J. Patrick Barnes grantees with up to $2,000 for expenses and fees for attending or presenting at a professional conference.
The DAISY Foundation provides these grants to support RNs who continually evaluate their practice, seek answers to clinical questions to improve their practice, and change their practice based on evidence and evaluation of that change. Nurses are encouraged to apply whether or not they have research/EBP experience.
There are two funding cycles. The first deadline to submit a letter of intent for a J. Patrick Barnes Grant is April 2. Grants also will be awarded beginning in the fall with a letter-of-intent submission deadline of Sept. 14.
