Heather M. Young, RN, PhD, FAAN, was selected to serve on The Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action Strategic Advisory Committee to guide the national Campaign for Action, an initiative to ensure all Americans have access to high-quality, person-centered healthcare, with nurses contributing to the full extent of their capabilities. She is Associate vice chancellor for nursing and dean of the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis in Sacramento, Calif. Young joins 11 other nationally recognized leaders in business, healthcare, education, organized labor and consumer advocacy.

The mission of the Strategic Advisory Committee is to guide the Campaign for Action and to help attract, engage and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders and policymakers who will support the integration of the recommendations into all components of society. The Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action was established by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the AARP Center to Champion Nursing in America in 2010 to implement the recommendations of the landmark Institute of Medicine report, "The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health."

Renae Battie, RN, MN, CNOR, was elected vice president for the 2012-13 term on the board of directors for the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses. Battie is regional director, perioperative services at Franciscan Health System in Tacoma, Wash.
