Robert Haffey, RN
Robert Haffey, RN, MSN, MBA, has joined Crozer-Keystone Health System in Springfield, Pa., as CNO.
Haffey brings a wealth of nursing leadership experience to Crozer-Keystone. He most recently served as CNE with the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System – Texas Medical Center in Houston. During his time at Memorial Herman, Haffey also served as an adjunct professor of nursing systems at the University of Texas. Haffey previously served as CNO and vice president of acute care services at Pennsylvania Hospital, where he began his career as a staff nurse and also served as critical care supervisor and nursing director in critical care units.
"In the coming months, I will be meeting with many of our nurses to assess the health system’s current strengths and weaknesses and develop a plan that will allow us to become the national model for nursing care," Haffey said in a news release. "As a former bedside nurse, I understand that the best ideas and strategies for improving quality and safety often come from the people who directly care for our patients. That is why I will look to all levels of our organization for assistance."
Haffey succeeds Nancy Bucher, RN, MSN, NEA-BC, who has retired from the health system after more than 30 years of service. She had served as Crozer-Keystone’s CNO since 2001. Bucher began her career with Crozer-Keystone in 1978 as staff nurse in the med/surg division at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.
Under her leadership, the Center for Nursing Excellence was established in 2007 and the health system made its first submission for Magnet recognition last year. Among her achievements was facilitating the creation of the Nursing Research Committee to promote nursing research throughout the health system.
