To showcase the efforts hospitals across California are making to improve quality patient care, the California Hospital Association updated its dedicated patient safety website, www.CaringIsOurCalling.org.

"Healthcare professionals know that quality improvement is an ongoing, continuous process," CHA President/CEO C. Duane Dauner said in a news release.

The website features three new patient safety issue briefs — one on the efforts hospitals are making to reduce the incidence of C. difficile, another highlighting how hospitals are improving medication safety and a third aimed at showcasing the evidence-based practices hospitals are using to eliminate surgical errors.

Each of the issue briefs includes hospital case studies that provide specific examples of the quality improvement work under way at hospitals throughout the state. Each of the issue briefs provides specific recommendations on what patients and their loved ones can do to ensure the delivery of safe care.

"Our updated website highlights several examples of the numerous efforts under way at hospitals throughout California to reduce the incidence of infectious illnesses and to improve the overall quality of care provided to every patient," Dauner said in the release.
