I have been going through the heartbreaking experience of being a new grad. I have less than one or two years of experience of floor nursing, and regardless of my CV, I have been rejected for open positions. I’ve learned that “new grad” is a bad word.

We need to nurture, not “eat” or abuse, our new generation of nurses. Hospitals pride themselves on opening new grad or Versant programs where six positions are open and 6,000 have applied. It’s a bottleneck that threatens nursing and makes nursing education fraudulent.
