Advocate Health Care’s two flagship pediatric hospitals — Advocate Lutheran General Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge, Ill., and Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, Ill. — have joined to create Advocate Children’s Hospital. The facilities now are two campuses under one umbrella in a move that was effective Oct. 29, according to a news release.

Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital has more than 400 pediatricians and 230 subspecialists offering a wide range of care that includes neonatology; cardiovascular services; comprehensive cancer care, including treatment of brain tumors and blood cancers; trauma care; and a full range of rehabilitative and therapy services, including audiology, speech therapy, physical and occupational therapy and the care of autistic children. Together, the facilities have 400 licensed beds, including 111 Level 3 neonatal intensive care beds and 46 Level 2 special care nursery beds.

"We now have a broader voice and a broader skill set to make things happen," said Mike Farrell, president of Advocate Children’s Hospital, said in the release. "This puts us in a position to adapt and grow with changes taking place in the healthcare world."

According to the release, the hospital’s new organizational framework is designed to enhance communication among physicians and other healthcare professionals, including increased opportunities for consulting, conferring and collaborating.
