I receive your magazine and enjoyed the January anniversary issue. I have been an RN for nearly 38 years and have seen many changes in nursing. It was interesting to see in print the overview of some of those changes.

I am in my 17th year as a parish nurse or faith community nurse at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Beech Grove, Ind. It is exciting to work in nursing as we move toward the future with healthcare reforms.

The “Silver (Anniversary) Linings” article (Nurse.com/Article/Silver-Anniversary) and reports from various nursing experts through the years were enlightening. I see faith community nursing in each of their insights. I especially appreciated Jean Watson’s reflections about self-care and nurturing. FCN has a specific focus for this and the intentional care of the spirit. FCNs would like to see more articles that reflect the future of nursing as we hold the vision of care with healthcare reforms and trends that promote prevention and wellness.
