I am in the RN program at Lower Columbia College in Longview, Wash., and ran across the May 6 Nurse.com article “Swedish Medical Center’s RN Residency Program helps new grads flourish” (www.Nurse.com/Article/Swedish-Residency). I found it interesting and encouraging to know there is a medical facility willing to invest in new RN graduates.

I believe Swedish Medical Center has a great thing going in Seattle, and I only wish more facilities would do this nationwide. I feel it benefits the new grads by giving them the experience needed to practice nursing in an acute care setting and allowing them to practice their skills learned in school, while nourishing them as new grads.

I think it would be beneficial for our school to know about this opportunity. We have a couple of students from the Greater Seattle area, and those willing to relocate could greatly benefit from this program. Thank you for bringing this to the attention of the nursing community.
