Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla., was named a Ventana Research 2012 Leadership Award recipient for business technology in November. The award recognizes organizations for their progressive use of information technology. Moffitt was honored in the Big Data category for its successful health and research informatics platform overseen by Mark Hulse, RN, vice president of information technology and chief information officer, and Dana Rollison, PhD, vice president and chief health information officer and member of the cancer epidemiology program, according to a news release.

"Cancer treatment and research are continually evolving," Hulse said in the release. "We are honored to be recognized for our integration of technology with patient care and research to improve outcomes."

Organizations nominated for a Ventana Research Leadership Award are evaluated for their use of people, processes, information and technology, and best practices.
