Delray Medical Center nurse Jane Senick was named the February Nurse of the Month by the Medical Staffing Network and KOOL 105.5. The Nurse of the Month contest honors exceptional Florida nurses. Senick is the assistant nurse manager for the ambulatory care unit at Delray Medical Center and has more than 20 years of nursing experience, according to a news release. She received a $100 gift card to SiSpa and other prizes.

"If you or a loved one has ever been hospitalized, you know firsthand that nurses do a lot more than just take care of their patientsí medical needs," Mark Bryan, Delray Medical Center CEO, said in a news release. "I am very proud that Jane is being recognized for her outstanding efforts, and we will celebrate her recognition as we continue our commitment to providing exceptional care through practice, resourcing and leadership in nursing."

More than 40 nurses were nominated by their peers through the radio stationís website. Julie Marshall, one of Senickís colleagues, nominated Senick for her encouragement and compassion. Marshall said Senick has been her role model, building her self-confidence and skills, according to the news release.

At the end of each month, a contest committee reviews all of the entries and selects the winner based on the story that was submitted with the nomination.
