Cook County Health and Hospitals System recognizes nurses in 8 clinical areas

Cook County Health and Hospitals System recently recognized eight nurses in its second annual Professional Registered Nurse Clinical Excellence Award Program. On May 8, the system honored nurses for clinical performance, based on six categories: relationships and caring; vision; innovation; advocacy; teamwork and collaboration; and clinical expertise.

The award recipients were nominated for outstanding performance in the following clinical areas:

• Med/surg nursing – Sheila Marshall, RN, Provident Hospital of Cook County in Chicago

• Critical care – Julia Sarazine, RN, APN, John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago

• Ambulatory nursing – Carmelita Coronel, RN, Ruth M. Rothstein CORE Center in Chicago

• Perioperative/interventional special procedures – Phanne Sathissarat, RN, Provident Hospital of Cook County

• Quality/case management – Elaine O’Keefe, RN, John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County

• Public health nursing – Nancy Strait, RN, Cook County Department of Public Health

• Correctional nursing – Cecilia Torres, RN, Cermak Health Services of Cook County in Chicago

• Advanced practice nursing – Barbara Cleveland, RN, John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County
