Nursing Consortium of South Florida appoints Strickland to board

Ora Strickland, RN, PhD, FAAN, dean of Florida International University’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences, has been appointed to the board of directors for the Nursing Consortium of South Florida. Strickland will serve a two-year tenure on the board. She brings more than 22 years of nursing research, academic contributions and practical expertise and also is the youngest person to be inducted into the American Academy of Nursing, according to a news release.

"South Florida’s nursing community is diverse and dynamic and brings its unique set of challenges and opportunities," Strickland said in the release. "I am excited to be working with esteemed colleagues in this field to provide solutions that address the nursing shortage needs in our community."

As dean of FIU’s College of Nursing & Health Sciences, Strickland oversees the academic development and administrative operations across the college’s six disciplines: nursing, athletic training, communication sciences and disorders, occupational therapy, physical therapy and health services administration.
