Nurses at Covenant Health, Lubbock, have earned the highest honor for nursing care from Professional Research Consultants.

Covenant earned 2013 PRC 5-star recipient status for children's hospital nursing care and also was honored with medical staff awards as a 4-star recipient for overall laboratory services and overall radiology services.

Awards are based on the percentage of physicians who rate the facility excellent — or in the top 10% of facilities surveyed nationally — for any of the select categories. In Covenant Health's case, physicians rated the nursing care excellent.
"The children's nursing team works closely with physicians to take excellent care of our patients and families, and we are grateful that physicians rated nursing in the top 10% of nursing teams in the nation," Karen Baggerly, RN, MSN, CCRN, Covenant Health's CNO, said in a news release.

PRC is in its 33rd year of providing marketing research for hospitals across the U.S. "We are thrilled to present Covenant Health with these National Excellence in Healthcare Awards," Joe M. Inguanzo, PhD, president and CEO, said in the release. "It was through their hard work, dedication and determination that they have made their facility a better place for the entire community. In the past 33 years, we've never seen hospitals more determined to exceed customers' expectations than the hospitals we recognized this year. It speaks to their passion that Covenant Health is among the best of the best."
