Saint Xavier University’s Danielle Babbington, RN was selected for the Schweitzer Fellowship, a program that will enable her to design and direct an innovative yearlong project to help vulnerable communities improve their health and well-being.

Babbington, an SXU School of Nursing student from Chicago, will partner with Family Rescue, a shelter on Chicago’s South Side for women and their families. She will teach health education, GED test preparation and life skills to help the women transition to independent living.

The Schweitzer Fellowship is a yearlong service learning program for graduate students in health-related professions.

In addition to helping Chicagoans with their present day health needs, the Schweitzer Program’s mission is to cultivate the fellows to become lifelong leaders in service.
