Washingtonian magazine gives Excellence in Nursing awards to regional RNs

A number of nurses from the region received the Excellence in Nursing Award in the October issue of Washingtonian magazine.

The honorees included two nurses from Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. — Christy Baxter, RN, MSN, MHA, CPN, a clinical manager in pain medicine, and Lindsey Kennedy, RN, BSN, CPHON, a nurse in the hematology/oncology/bone marrow transplant unit.

Other honorees were Susan Eckert, RN, MSN, senior vice president of nursing and CNE at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.; John Bing, CRNA, president of the Diversity in Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Program; Joni Brady, RN, MSN, CAPA, a pain management nurse at Inova Alexandria (Va.) Hospital; Janeen Constantine, RN, MS, ANP-C, ACNP-C, an adult cardiology nurse practitioner with Cardiology Associates, LLC; Lt. Dwight Hampton, RN, BSN, deputy director of medical home port management with the Office Bureau of Navy Medicine and Surgery; Maria Reinitz, RN, staff nurse on the post anesthesia care unit at the Edwards Surgical Pavilion at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Md.; Teresa Wenner, RN, an ED nurse at Inova Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg, Va.; and Carol Whitney, RN, an on-call night nurse with Montgomery Hospice in Rockville, Md.

According to a news release, The Washingtonian annually recognizes nurses who go beyond the call of duty to enhance the well-being of their patients and the community with the Excellence in Nursing Award. The nurses are nominated by their peers and chosen from among hundreds of submissions.
