Teresa Mahoney, RNC-EFM, MN, was named Oct. 17 as one of five recipients of the Fetal Heart Monitoring Instructor Recognition Award for second quarter 2013 by the Association of Womenís Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses, according to a
news release.

Mahoney has been teaching the AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring Program for more than eight years and became an instructor trainer in 2007, according to the release. She is the professional outreach education, perinatal educator at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Childrenís Hospital, Spokane, Wash., and an RN staff educator at Spokane (Wash.) Community College.

Mahoney started her nursing practice at a rural hospital in Idaho and is dedicated to bringing excellent nursing education to high risk and rural health hospitals, according to the release.

Each year, the AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring Program educates approximately 13,000 perinatal clinicians worldwide. The award recipients teach a substantial number of courses.
