The March of Dimes announced that Anne H. McCartney, RN, MSN, CNM, NEA-BC, vice president of patient care services at Inspira Health Network, has accepted the honorary chair position for the eighth annual 2013 March of Dimes New Jersey Chapter Nurse of the Year awards. The March of Dimes and Investors Bank will honor nurses for their contributions. The award ceremony will be held on Dec. 12 at Pines Manor in Edison, N.J.

According to a news release, for almost 30 years, McCartney has had a special interest in maternal child health while serving as a practicing certified nurse midwife and in several hospital-based nursing leadership roles. She also serves on the board of the Organization of Nurse Executives-New Jersey, Cumberland County College School of Nursing, Nurse.com, VHA CNO Council and the March of Dimes, South New Jersey Division.

“It is my honor to chair this important event,” McCartney said in the release. “I look forward to recognizing my fellow nurses from across the state of New Jersey for their unique contributions to the health of all our citizens.”

Also speaking at the event will be Donna Cardillo, RN, MA, Nurse.com’s career advice columnist.

Proceeds from the Nurse of the Year Awards will benefit the March of Dimes mission to have every baby born strong and healthy.

“The March of Dimes is very proud to be able to provide a platform for nurses,” Addy Bonet, state director of the March of Dimes, New Jersey chapter, said in the release. “Ann is a great role model for all of the nurses and we are thrilled that she is committed to the success of our event.”
