For the third consecutive year, Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Md., was named by The Joint Commission as the Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care.

To be recognized as a top performer in any one of the key quality measures, the organization must achieve cumulative performance of 95% or above across all reported accountability measures and achieve performance of 95% or above on each and every reported accountability measure (where there are at least 30 cases), according to a news release. It also must have at least one core measure set that has a composite rate of 95% or above, and within that measure set, all applicable individual accountability measures have a performance rate of 95% or above. A 95% score means a hospital provided an evidence-based practice 95 times out of 100 opportunities, according to the release.
