Texas Nurses District 9 Foundation Nursing Celebration lauds outstanding RNs

The 23rd annual Nursing Celebration, sponsored by the Texas Nurses District 9 Foundation in Houston in November, lauded 20 Outstanding Nurses for 2013, honored the President’s Award Recipient and named recipients of nursing scholarships and research grants, according to a news release.

The President’s Award — given to a leading advocate for nurses and the nursing profession — was presented to Margie Dorman-O’Donnell, RN, MSN, TNA president, for her efforts with TNA, according to a TNA District 9 spokesperson.

Scholarship recipients

The Donna Wooten Nursing Scholarship was presented to Kaysie Marshall, LVN to ADN Mobility Program, San Jacinto College South. Shaylor Goodwin, RN, BSN, Houston Baptist University and Sabrenda Littles, RN, Doctoral Program in Nursing Science, Texas Woman’s University, were awarded the District 9 Foundation Nursing Scholarships. Nitha Mathew, RN, University of Texas Medical Branch, was awarded the District 9 Foundation Research Grant.
