Nurses at Edward Hospital in Naperville were recognized for the following achievements:

Mary Vercellino, APN, MSN, CWON, ACNS-BC presented a podium session on “Urostomy Potpourri” at the Society of Urological Nurses and Associates National Convention on Oct. 11 in Chicago.

Lani Destree, MS, RN, CNS, CDE, ADM-BC; Patti Ludwig-Beymer, PhD, RN, CTN-A, NEA-BC, FAAN; Vercellino; and Amy Rowe, BSN, RN, CCRN, published an article entitled “Effects of Education on Nurse Confidence and Cardiac Surgical Glycemic Control” in the October-December 2013 issue of AACN Advanced Critical Nurse.

Kathy Heckler, RN, passed the examination for certified hyperbaric registered nurse.

Jola Gargano, RN, passed the examination for certified professional in healthcare quality.

Anita Brown, RN, was awarded the Good Catch Award for November 2013 for recognizing a patient’s symptoms as a very serious condition as she was talking to her on the phone.

Lisa Coen, RN, Lauren Foley, RN, and Elizabeth Hickman, RN, were recognized by MedSun for speaking up regarding patient safety regarding faulty tubing.

The ICU staff was recognized by MedSun for speaking up and reporting patient safety concerns regarding another tubing product.

Sonia Middleton, RN, passed the examination for certified emergency nurse.
