Dear Donna,

I am a nursing student. While I'm sure that I'm on the right track, I'm not sure of the options that exist within the profession. How can I find out a breakdown of the various opportunities in nursing with descriptions? I've heard that you offer a seminar, but is it for individuals who already have a
nursing degree?

Nursing Student Exploring Options

Dear Donna replies:

Dear Nursing Student Exploring Options,

You are right when you say there are many options in nursing. In fact, it is the most diverse profession on the planet. You are wise to explore all of your options now as you get ready to embark upon your new career. Having the big picture and knowing what your options are will ensure a long, happy and satisfying career.

My seminar, “Career Alternatives for Nurses,” is very comprehensive. It is open to anyone who wishes to attend. I often have students and new nurses there as well as RNs and LPN/LVNs at every stage of their careers. You will learn about more than 60 individual opportunities for nurses along with resources, salary information and various creative sources of finding jobs and how to maximize your marketability. I also discuss transferable skills, resume writing and interviewing skills.

I’m only offering this seminar with Nurse.com twice in 2014 in New Jersey and New York (http://www.nurse.com/events/ce-seminars). Most nurses who attend say they got more information in one day than they could have ever could have imagined.

If you can’t attend the live event, it is available in a home study version (http://ce.nurse.com/Professional-Development). You will see a page showing all of the CE courses offered by Nurse.com. Search alphabetically for “Career Alternatives for Nurses.”

Best wishes,
