ED patient navigator Regina Wren, RN-BC, BSN, of Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas was one of 21 nurses selected to represent Texas on the American Nurses Association Professional Issues Panel for Care Coordination advisory panel, according to a news release.

The national panel consisted of nurses across the country working together to further develop the concept, framework and model for the nursing role in care coordination, according to the release.

The advisory committee completed its work through teleconferences and email submissions from April to September 2013, according to Wren. More than 240 applications were received to participate on the panel, according to a letter from the ANA advising Wren of her selection.

Wren was hired in August 2013 as the first ED patient care navigator in the Methodist Health System. Her goal is to help patients manage their health and chronic illness and to live well through healthcare education and coaching.
