Scott Edmisten, RN, EMT-P, district chief for Hernando County Fire Rescue, was one of three panelists at a May 19 educational event, called “Recognizing Stroke Symptoms & Using Early Treatment Options,” at the Heart Institute at Oak Hill Hospital in Spring Hill, Fla.

Other panelists were Paul A. Ernandes, PT, PhD, director of rehabilitation at Oak Hill Hospital, and Steve R. Porter, communications manager for the Hernando County sheriff’s office, according to a news release.

Those who attended heard how to recognize the symptoms of a stroke and how to save valuable tissue through early treatment options.
