Oak Hill Hospital, Spring Hill, Fla., introduced the SurgiTraksm patient updating system, which provides timely and automated notifications of a patientís progression through the surgical episode to designated family members and friends, according to a news release.

Notifications are sent via text or email to a mobile device such as a smart phone, tablet or any other computer or laptop with an Internet connection.

Prior to surgery, patients enter mobile phone numbers and email address of family members and friends who have agreed to receive surgery notifications such as patient in pre-op, holding, operating room, recovery, out of recovery, in room or discharged home.
